A sculptural tree composition in a two-storey apartment, giving it a cosy and slightly summery feel. The 98 m² apartment is divided into two floors. On the ground floor is the main area with kitchen, dining room, living room, master bedroom and bathroom. The second floor has two bedrooms and a bathroom. The connection between the floors is an exclusive staircase, like a mini auditorium. More than a staircase, it is a volumetric sculpture in this interior. As the ceiling of the first floor was lowering due to the complex ductwork, we chose to turn this lowest point into a wooden oasis. The sloping spaces on either side of the apartment extend the living room and bedroom space. This creates an interesting contrast between the cosy low space and the bright high space. On the second floor, the round window in the guest room is both a functional element and an interesting detail in the living room. The white perimeter of the interior gives a very clear indication of the cosy, summer house feeling of the space. Uninviting spaces have been transformed into a cosy interior accent.
