Žaltys (‘grass snake’) is a music player for deaf people – but also people without hearing loss. The design concept was created to build the foundation of the BALTICFUTURISM movement. A grass snake is a very important symbol for protection and security in Baltic culture. The object invites us to look back on our folk culture and start seeing it in the context of the future, to show that we (Baltic nations) have our place in this global modern world. The device transmits music not only through sound but also through vibration capsules along the spine.
